This loss wasn’t just another fluke like Game 1—it was a harsh reality check.
Game 2 was supposed to be different for the White Jaguars. Determined to avoid past mistakes, they aimed to prevent JKL from extending their win or, worse, beating them at their own game—defense. The Jaguars were the most dominant defensive team during the regular season, but last night, that defense crumbled as JKL executed an extended zone defense to perfection
Assistant Coach Curthbert didn’t mince words in his postgame comments, bluntly describing the Jaguars’ defensive effort as “unacceptable.”

“Obviously, we didn’t shoot the ball very well tonight, but defensively, it was an unacceptable performance, and I think that’s where I’m the most upset,” Curthbert stated. “We gave up 23 points off turnovers and lost the rebound battle. We didn’t help ourselves tonight.“
This Game 2 loss wasn’t just another fluke—it was a wake-up call. Much like their Game 1 defeat, where the JKL Lady Dolphins came out strong, the Jaguars struggled to find their rhythm. Sunday night’s performance was a disaster from start to finish. JKL punished the Jaguars both inside and out, keeping the Jaguars on their toes until Mai Nabbosa buried a clutch three-pointer in the first period to keep them afloat at the 2:30 mark. The first period ended 15-8.

Ruth Letaru for a layup
By halftime, the Jaguars were down 19-31, and the situation only deteriorated from there. JKL caught fire in the last half, scoring 40 points, not primarily from beyond the arc but from within the paint. Jane Asinde torched the Jaguars for 17 points, going 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from deep. Meanwhile, the Jaguars went ice cold, shooting just 18-of-66 from the field overall. They managed only 13-for-42 within the paint, with key players like Brenda Kayaga and Mary Priscilla combining for a miserable 2-for-10 from beyond the arc. The Jaguars were outworked in every aspect, committing 21 turnovers that led to 23 points for JKL, while also losing the battle on the boards and being outscored 29-9 by JKL’s bench. The Jaguars showed no effort, no energy, and certainly no commitment to winning this game.

“The good news is that we still have three chances to win this series,” said Curthbert. “The only way we win three games in a row starts with mental physicality. If the team has that, then we will win this series.”
Unfortunately, Ruth Letaru succumbed to an injury and may not get back for game 3 action but we pray the speed star gets better
