Season 2 of the Kira 8 Basketball Tournament is drawing closer, with teams already preparing to converge at The Den for another exciting battle for the title.

This year’s edition carries added significance as it coincides with a major milestone for the club — five solid years of existence. Over the past five years, the club has continued to grow and evolve, with its latest major development being the rebrand from JT Jaguars BBC to Kira Jaguars BBC, marking a new chapter in the club’s journey.

As part of the continued efforts to grow the game and create opportunities for women’s basketball, eight ladies’ teams have been confirmed for this year’s tournament.

Drawing from last year’s edition, the tournament welcomes one new addition: Pearl Queens Basketball Club. Pearl Queens reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition and will now be looking to make their mark when they step onto the court at The Den for Season 2.

The other seven teams remain familiar faces from the previous edition:

  • Kira Lady Jaguars
  • Kira Junior Lady Jaguars
  • UCU Lady Canons
  • UPDF Lady T’Hawks
  • Victoria She Crocs
  • JKL Lady Dolphins
  • KCCA Leopards
  • Pearl Queens Basketball Club

With a strong field of teams, another competitive tournament is expected as the clubs battle for the coveted Kira 8 crown.

But beyond the competition, Season 2 is also a celebration of community, growth and five years of the club’s journey. It is an opportunity for fans, players and supporters to come together, enjoy the game and create lasting memories away from the regular basketball season.
