Amidst the cheers and excitement of having Gold Mine Finance as their official sponsor, the Lady Jaguars returned to terrorize their opponents in the league once again.
No doubt, Sarah Ageno was bound to be the player of the game after she produced a 33-minute nightmare to lift the Jaguars to a 66-57 win against the miracle Ravens.
Priscilla turned in the performance of her basketball career pouring 19 points for the team on 5-of-6 shooting from the field including 3-of-21 from the 3-point lane.” Priscilla became the game-changer for the team at the time we needed it the most. She had an awesome range and FG% which brought us back to the game.” Asst. Coach Cuthbert
The game began with the Lady Jaguars taking an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 20 points while maintaining a slim defensive margin. However, the Miracle Ravens fought back aggressively in the second quarter, led by Marriam Namukwaya’s sharp shooting, which saw them take control of the game momentarily. Despite only scoring 4 baskets in the 2nd quarter, the Lady Jaguars managed to stay in the game, setting the stage for a thrilling comeback in the last half. Until then, Miracle Ravens continued playing in the cool waters, completely unaware of the impending danger that lurked beneath the surface. Little did they know, they were slowly but surely being cooked alive!
The tide was turned in the 3rd quarter, just when it seemed like all hope was lost, Priscilla Nambogo stepped up to the plate and unleashed a barrage of shots from within and beyond the arch. The crowd went wild as she ignited the 19-15 run, which connected to the 23-8 run in the last quarter to seal the win.
Mercy showed no mercy when it came to rebounds. She collected 20 rebounds contributing 11 points for the team which is no longer news to the NBL fraternity. Sarah became the magic bullet that shattered the ravens completely. She had 17 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals, and 7 assists. Unfortunately, the victory was marred by Brenda Kayaga’s injury, leaving fans hopeful for her swift recovery
As the team enjoys its win, prudence requires that they prepare for their next game on Friday against the JKL Lady dolphins
