The past few weeks have been some of the most exciting and reflective in my basketball journey. I knew I was approaching a new chapter in my career, but I didn’t fully grasp the mix of emotions I would experience as I made this decision.

Basketball has been part of my life since 2016, when I first picked up the game at Kalinabiri Secondary School. I continued at Exodus College School in 2017, and my passion for the game has only grown since the first time I traveled to Rushorooza for the High School Nationals.

The primary mandate I had for myself in deciding where to play next was always going to be what would allow me to grow as a player. That has guided me throughout my career, and it continues to steer me in the right direction. But I’m also at a point in my life where it’s equally important to find a place that helps me grow as a person—a place that challenges me, pushes me out of my comfort zone, and offers the chance to make meaningful contributions both on and off the court.

With all of that in mind, I decided to join the JT Lady Jaguars for the 2026/27 season. Phillippians 4.13

Choosing the Lady Jaguars was about more than basketball. Across the National Basketball League, most teams have at least one former UCU Lady Canon on their roster—that just shows you how cultured and good the club is. For the JT Lady Jaguars, that connection runs even deeper—if I’m not mistaken, 90% of the players came through UCU, which is meaningful to me because UCU has always been home, and I will forever be indebted to the team and the university that shaped me.

I chose the Lady Jaguars because I know most of the players, and that gave me an instant connection to the team, the culture, and the values it represents—resilience, unity, and the drive to push boundaries. My first visit to The Den confirmed it: the support, camaraderie, and positive environment felt right. What I love most is that this team isn’t just about winning. The Jaguars lift each other up and make an impact beyond the court.

Joining JT feels like the right move. It’s a new team, a new challenge, and a chance to continue growing as a player and as a person. I’m eager to learn, contribute, and be part of the team’s success this season and in the years to come.

This is Aber Bridget. This is my next chapter.
