The Lady Jaguars strengthened their momentum heading into the postseason with a convincing 26-point victory over the KIU Rangers at Lubowa on Wednesday evening, delivering another complete performance on both ends of the floor.

With the playoffs fast approaching, one of the night’s biggest storylines was the return of Brenda Kayaga to the active rotation after nearly two months out. While her shooting efficiency reflected the challenges of returning from a lengthy absence, her availability was a significant boost for the Lady Jaguars. The coaching staff remains confident that she will regain her rhythm with more game time before the postseason begins.

The Lady Jaguars received contributions across the board, with every starter playing an important role in the team’s success. However, the performance of the night belonged to Mercy Batamuliza, who registered a dominant triple-double of 16 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 steals. She also converted 75 percent of her attempts from the free-throw line, continuing to demonstrate her reliability in key moments.

Batamuliza’s impact extended far beyond the box score. Her activity on the glass, defensive anticipation, and ability to consistently position herself in advantageous situations allowed her to influence virtually every phase of the game.

“Mercy was always in the right place at the right time. She was able to get the shots she wanted, and we shall need more of that come playoff time,” Head Coach Cuthbert said after the game.

Sarah Ageno once again showcased her all-around value, finishing with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals. Playing the most minutes of any Lady Jaguars player, Ageno recorded a team-best +29 plus-minus, highlighting her importance on both ends of the court throughout the contest.

Mary Priscilla continued her impressive run of consistency, adding another double-digit scoring performance to a growing list this season. Although her offensive game was not at its most efficient, she remained an important presence for the Lady Jaguars, whose high standards have become a testament to their growth throughout the campaign.

As the regular season draws to a close, the Lady Jaguars continue to raise expectations with each outing. Their recent performances have underlined not only their quality but also the depth and balance that could prove decisive in the postseason.

The Lady Jaguars will conclude their regular season schedule on Sunday when they face Nabisunsa at ABJA Park before shifting their full focus to the playoff challenge ahead.
