Despite placing four players in double figures, the JT Lady Jaguars fell 78–68 to the JKL Dolphins at the arena last night, dropping to 2–1 on the season.
The Jaguars’ bench provided a significant spark, combining for 36 points. Sandra Wangeshi led the team with 13 points off the bench, adding two rebounds and three assists while shooting 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and a perfect clip from the free-throw line. She was joined by Bridget (11 points) and Rhoda (10 points), who both provided valuable scoring support.

The Lady Jaguars showed promise early, posting 40 points in the first half with controlled tempo and improved execution. However, momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter when JKL ignited a decisive 14–2 run, stretching the lead to 12 at one stage. Brenda Akone proved particularly dangerous in transition, capitalizing on fast breaks and turnovers. From that point forward, JKL relied on their experience and composure to close out the game.
The Jaguars now turn their attention to the KCCA Leopards, whom they face on Friday at 7:00 PM at YMCA Wandegeya.
Takeaways from the Loss
1. Sandra Wangeshi’s Impact
Wangeshi delivered a strong performance off the bench, finishing as the team’s leading scorer. Her efficiency from three-point range and reliability at the free-throw line were bright spots in an otherwise difficult outing.
2. Backcourt Struggles
It was a challenging night for starting guards Shakira and Mambo Mai. Shakira recorded four points, three rebounds, and one assist, while Mai added three points and three assists, shooting 1-for-6 from beyond the arc. The team’s offensive rhythm suffered as the starting backcourt struggled to find consistency.
3. Turnover Troubles
Committing over 25 turnovers made it extremely difficult to sustain control. Each mistake fueled JKL’s transition attack, with Akone repeatedly converting defensive stops into fast-break points. Ball security will be a top priority heading into Friday’s matchup.
If the Lady Jaguars are to bounce back, tightening up possession and maintaining second-half composure will be essential.
Wow, it was a game to watch with our naked eyes.
Who ever missed to witness the impact of both teams just know you missed the final.
