If the Magic have a norm of coming back in Game 2s, that shouldn’t be the case tonight.

The Lady Jaguars go again tonight in Game 2 of the semifinal series against the Magic Stormers with the clear intent to extend their lead to 2-0, aiming to close business on Sunday.

Game 1 saw a dominant 26-point blowout victory for the Lady Jaguars, limiting the Magic to just 37 points against 63. Mercy Batamuliza and Shakira Nanvubya combined for 33 crucial points, carrying the offense when the rest of the roster wasn’t having its best day in office. Still, those who didn’t contribute much offensively made their mark on the defensive end, it was a true team effort. “It was a good game, we started strong and that was important. We hope to make it even better next game,” said Coach Sudi.

Tonight, the Magic will be looking to level the series. They’ve done it before against their former opponents, the KCCA Leopards, and that is the same energy they’ll be bringing. If that’s the norm in which they thrive, we must ensure it does not happen tonight. They are coming stronger and much more motivated, which makes this the most important game of the series.

We already know that Aja Kur thrives in the paint with her drop steps and post-up moves, so we must be ready for that. Communication on court will be key—whether on screens, switches, or defensive rotations. Additionally, the team needs to find creative ways to free up our shooters for open looks, and our centers must be prepared to step up inside, especially since Mercy will likely be heavily marked.

More players need to step up offensively tonight, and I trust that will happen. The other constants—defense, rebounding, and hustle—remain just as important. Ultimately, we need to build on the same foundation from Game 1 and execute even better.

Let’s go, Ladies! 🔥
