Kira, Uganda – [30/5/2025] – JT Jaguars Basketball Club is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural KIRA 8 SERIES TOURNAMENT, a groundbreaking basketball event set to take place in November 2025 at the Jaguars Den in Kira.


Under the powerful theme, “Full Court for All: Hoops for Autism Awareness,” the tournament aims to unite communities through sport while shining a vital light on autism spectrum disorders in Uganda.


The KIRA 8 SERIES TOURNAMENT will feature the top 8 ranked National Basketball League (NBL) teams, both Ladies and Gents, competing in an exhilarating display of talent and sportsmanship.


This highly anticipated event promises to be a thrilling experience for basketball fans and a significant platform for social impact.
“We founded this tournament with a simple yet powerful goal: to use the universal language of basketball to promote inclusion, acceptance, and awareness of autism spectrum disorders,” said Leonard Lubambula, Tournament Chairman for the Kira Super 8 Series. “Every pass counts, and every player matters – a philosophy that extends beyond the court to embrace every individual in our community, including those on the autism spectrum.”


Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects a significant number of individuals in Uganda, with an estimated prevalence of 88 cases per 10,000 people.
Despite this, challenges such as underdiagnosis and limited access to specialized services persist.


The KIRA 8 SERIES TOURNAMENT seeks to address these issues head-on by fostering a greater understanding of autism and raising crucial support for affected individuals and their families.


Proceeds and partnerships from the tournament will directly contribute to initiatives that support individuals with autism, including awareness campaigns, advocacy efforts, and improved access to much-needed resources and therapy services.
