Game

The JT Jaguars have now been tested twice in clutch situations, and they seem to be getting it right. This was the team’s second win, standing at 2–0 in tight finishes.

The JT Jaguars defeated the JKL Dolphins yesterday at the arena, 65–59, marking their second consecutive victory without a loss.

The team was led by Chol Abraham, who recorded a season-high 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists. Peter Sifuma added 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Chuma contributed 9 points and 11 rebounds before leaving the game with a minor nose injury.

It was a dogfight throughout the contest. The Jaguars dominated the paint, while the Dolphins relied heavily on the three-point line. JKL shot 28% from beyond the arc (11-for-39), while the Jaguars managed just 10%, converting only two three-pointers — both from Chol Abraham. It was clearly not the team’s best shooting night, while Fred Dexter remained a constant threat all game.

However, when a player gets that hot, adjustments must be made. The Jaguars committed to giving Dexter more defensive attention, limiting him to 4-for-11 from three-point range.

A key moment came when the Jaguars held a one-point lead late in the game. Dexter received the ball with Duncan defending him. Duncan stayed disciplined, did not fall for the fakes, and slid effectively to contest the shot. When Mpeti set a screen, Duncan switched immediately, making it difficult for Mpeti to get a clean look. The stop led to a transition basket for the Jaguars.

Again, on JKL’s final inbound play, Duncan pressured Dexter into a turnover, even after Junior missed a three-point attempt. The objective was clear: prevent their hot shooter from gaining comfort and rhythm — and it worked.

The Good

We secured another clutch win.

The Bad

The Jaguars must improve their three-point shooting to compete more effectively from beyond the arc.

The next game will be on Wednesday 18th at YMCA Wandegeya against the Kampala Rockets
