Tomorrow at 6:00 PM at the MTN Lugogo Arena, the JT Jaguars will be taking on the Kampala Rockets in Round 2 of the regular season. As I said earlier, any slip or win in the remaining matchups can lead to a significant shift in a team’s position when it comes to playoff seeding. So yes, even though the current standings may look a bit scary, I can’t be worried about the JT Jaguars because I trust them to deliver in these final three games.

It’s safe to say that, even though we’re coming off a dominant win against the Oilers, I actually think the Rockets pose a bigger threat right now. That’s why this game has to be taken seriously—just like the rest of the remaining fixtures. The JT Jaguars need to play like this is their ticket to the playoffs. A win tomorrow will most likely push them up to sixth place or higher, as long as they stay consistent.

If we happen to lose, then we’ll have no choice but to squeeze out a win against the Spartans and close the regular season strong against the Titans. Regardless of how it unfolds, I genuinely believe we have a good shot at the playoffs. The real question is: what seed are we aiming for?

Yes, we beat the Rockets convincingly in Round One, but that result doesn’t matter anymore. They’ve picked up their pace and are playing good basketball. We’ll have to run them off the three-point line and, more importantly, protect the paint, especially under the rim. The center players will once again play a crucial role in this game, while the rest of the squad needs to be aggressive runners who can convert fast breaks.

The team must be cautious when defending pick-and-roll situations and should not underestimate any player on the Rockets’ roster. Still, I believe we have the firepower to shoot the Rockets down, especially from beyond the arc.

See you Sunday for the live action.
