UCU has asked questions and the Jaguars must respond tonight.

After a disappointing Game 1, the Jaguars now find  themselves 1–0 down against the UCU Lady Canons and will need a much stronger performance to keep their championship hopes alive.

UCU set the tone in Game 1, dominating from the opening tip and holding the Jaguars to just 35 points across four quarters. It was a low offensive output for a team with the experience and firepower of the Jaguars, and they will be determined to make sure history does not repeat itself tonight.

The Canons are known for coming out aggressively in the opening of the Finals games, so the Jaguars cannot afford another slow start. The opening quarter will matter. They must match UCU’s intensity, protect the paint, compete on the glass and make the Canons pay from beyond the arc.

Game 1 exposed the areas that need fixing. The Jaguars were beaten in the three-point battle and under the rim, while their offensive rhythm never truly developed. Tonight, everything has to be different.

And it starts with the starters.

The starting five must set the tone from the first possession. If they make the statement early, the bench can come in and amplify that energy. But if the Jaguars allow UCU to dictate the pace again, they could find themselves chasing the game for four quarters.

Still, Game 1 wasn’t without positives.

Brenda Kayaga continued to create quality looks despite some shots refusing to fall, while Mercy Batamuliza kept fighting on the boards even when the put-backs weren’t dropping. Those are not problems without solutions. With better execution and a more aggressive approach, the Jaguars have everything they need to bounce back.

But limiting the Canons to below 50 especially on a bad day is also a positive that we could take, I think k if we lock-in we shall be able to get the job done

No injury concerns have been reported ahead of Game 2.
