The JT Lady Jaguars concluded their regular-season campaign in emphatic fashion yesterday, defeating the Nabisunsa Girls 111-32 in their highest-scoring performance of the season. The victory showcased the teams readiness of what they can do come the playoffs

1. Brenda Kayaga Is Finding Her Rhythm Again

After returning from a hand injury, Brenda Kayaga featured against the KIU Rangers but managed only three points from a single three-pointer. Against Nabisunsa, however, she looked much more like herself.

Kayaga finished with 16 points, shooting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, while also contributing five assists. Head Coach Cuthbert praised her commitment to maintaining her fitness despite the injury setback, noting that her conditioning has played a major role in helping her regain her form.

As she continues to improve with every game, it would not be surprising to see her reclaim a spot in the starting five come playoff time.

2. Aziida Nalubega Dialed In

Coming off the bench, Aziida Nalubega delivered one of her best performances of the season, recording a season-high 20 points.

She shot an impressive 70 percent from inside the paint, missing only four of her 12 attempts, while also grabbing nine rebounds and converting all of her free throws. Most impressive was her control of the game in the paint, where she dictated the tempo and consistently imposed herself on both ends of the floor.

Her 20 points were the highest total recorded by any player in the game.

3. Maimuna Mambo and Mary Pricilla Are Becoming the Face of the Lady Jaguars

The duo once again finished in double figures, marking their fourth consecutive game achieving that feat.

Although Maimuna Mambo struggled from three-point range, she still contributed 14 points while shooting 66 percent inside the arc. Mary Pricilla added 12 points of her own despite an off-night from deep.

Pricilla, in particular, has firmly established herself in the starting lineup and continues to make a strong case as one of the league’s most improved players. Many will be eager to see how she performs in the playoffs, especially if the Lady Jaguars make a deep postseason run.

4. Scoring 111 was nostalgic

It is true that the Lady Jaguars beat teams, but only on rare occasions do they go beyond and surpass the century mark. Finishing with 111 points isn’t as easy as it may look, even against a team like Nabisunsa. You can’t equally argue that it was against an easy Nabisunsa side. I think we all know that Nabisunsa is actually a great team that can easily beat a so-called “Pearl Queen.” Therefore, the display and effort the ladies put into this game were convincing, and the team should be commended for their efforts.

5. Next Stop: The Playoffs

The most important stage of the season has arrived.

The playoffs are where every team is tested and where all the work done during the regular season is put on the line.

The Lady Jaguars enter the postseason with growing confidence. They finished as runners-up last season, reached the semifinals the year before, and were quarterfinalists the season prior to that. The progression has been steady, and this year they will believe they have a genuine opportunity to go all the way.

The only remaining question concerns Bridget’s injury status and her availability for the playoffs. Further updates are expected soon.
