If you were at the NBL game yesterday, you’d know that the JT Jaguars never fail to bring the heat. We expected an entertaining and hard-fought game against JKL, but little did we know that this would be the night one man, Drona Andrew Bibi, would steal the show and make us all believe in the impossible.

Andrew Drona going for the shot
It all started during halftime when Castle Lite, the NBL’s official sponsor, rolled out their signature competitions: free throws, three-point shots, and the big one—the mid-court shot that could make someone’s day (or, in this case, someone’s bank account). Now, let’s talk about that free throw contest. Yours truly bravely stepped up to the line, only to watch helplessly as the rim seemed to magically repel every single shot I took (don’t worry, I’m not bitter). Drona Bibi, our hero, was feeling lucky—or at least determined. He decided to warm up with the free throw contest. Now, if you’ve ever seen a game of basketball, you know the charity stripe can be anything but charitable. Bibi’s attempts were, well, let’s just say they were more air than ball. The crowd had a good chuckle, but he wasn’t done. After all, missing a couple of free throws is just part of the game, right?
Fast forward to the mid-court contest. One by one, contestants tried their luck, but no one could sink that elusive basket, and the crowd began to lose hope. But not Bibi. Nope, this guy had something to prove. With the kind of determination that could move mountains, he walked to the mid-court line, took a deep breath, and hurled the ball into the air.
What happened next? Pure magic.

Andrew Drona Bibi celebrates his victory
The ball soared through the air, defying gravity and logic, before it kissed nothing but net. The crowd went absolutely wild—a deafening roar of disbelief and exhilaration. Bibi, the man who couldn’t buy a bucket at the free throw line, had just pocketed 200k with a single, perfect shot from mid-court.
Speaking to Drona Andrew Bibi, he said, “You see, right from high school, I had a lot of energy, and I knew that the free throw lane might require a little more skill, but not the center throw. It was something I often tried at school. Even as I played football as a right back, I knew it was possible, and why not? I took the stage, and yes, it went in.” Drona also expressed immense love for the Lady Jaguars and emphasized how Sunday’s game will be theirs: “All the ladies need is our support, and we shall be there. I know we can win that game, and come Sunday, we shall be there to support and show them our love.”

Club president and Bibi celebrate the well earned victory
The JT Jaguars’ Club President, Jeff Teya, rushed to celebrate with him, grinning ear to ear with joy and excitement. The entire NBL fraternity was left in awe as Bibi pocketed 200k UGX, proving that persistence pays off—and that sometimes, the biggest victories come from the most unexpected places.
Drona added, “If there’s anything about me, it’s the attitude and never-give-up spirit. Even when the team is being beaten, I always support and encourage the team never to give up, and that’s the spirit we need to enter with come game two.”
So, what’s the takeaway from Bibi’s tale? Seize the moment, never give up, and maybe, just maybe, give the mid-court shot a try next time. Who knows? You might just pull a Bibi.
