The wait is almost over! We’re excited to welcome you back for Season 2 of the Kira 8 Basketball Tournament, and this time, we have even more reason to celebrate. As we bring the basketball community together once again, we’ll also be marking five years of existence, made possible by you “the community” that continues to believe in us.

The countdown is on, and the stage is being set for two weekends of action-packed basketball at The Den, the home of the Kira Jaguars in Kira. With teams expected from across Uganda and as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the tournament promises an exciting battle for championship glory.

But the Kira 8 is about more than what happens on the court. Our fans and the wider basketball community remain at the heart of everything we do. This season, expect more fan activities, exciting engagements and opportunities for basketball enthusiasts from across the country to be part of the experience.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Games Chairperson Ian Asabo promised an even more engaging experience, building on the success of Season 1. He called upon the basketball community to come together, celebrate the game and embrace the spirit of Obonato.

The tournament is tentatively scheduled to tip off on the last weekend of October, running into the first weekend of November. The proposed dates also take into consideration the Road to Ball competition, where Namuwongo Blazers will be representing Uganda at Hoima Stadium around the same period.

Preparations are in high gear as we work towards delivering an even better experience, with exciting fan engagements, improved prizes and awards in the pipeline.

The Kira 8 is coming. Stay tuned!
