The wait is almost over.
The Kira8 Basketball Tournament has taken another major step towards its highly anticipated second edition, with the tournament management confirming the teams that will compete in this year’s men’s competition.
Organized by Kira Jaguars Basketball Club, the tournament returns with all the teams that featured in last year’s inaugural edition, setting the stage for another exciting battle for the Kira8 crown.
Leading the charge will be the hosts, Kira Black Jaguars, who will be looking to turn home-court advantage into a championship after finishing as runners-up in the inaugural edition. The Jaguars fell to UCU Canons in last year’s final and will be determined to go one step further this time around.
Standing in their way will be the reigning champions, UCU Canons, who return to Kira8 with their title firmly in their sights. The Canons will be aiming to defend the crown and establish themselves as the tournament’s first back-to-back champions.
Also returning are the Namuwongo Blazers, the reigning NBL champions, who will be looking for a stronger showing after finishing fourth in the inaugural edition. With their pedigree and ambitions, the Blazers will have their eyes firmly set on making a deeper run this time.
Solid Skills, who finished third last year after defeating Namuwongo Blazers, will also be back and will be hoping to challenge for an even bigger prize this time around.
Completing the men’s lineup are Victoria Crocs, UPDF T’Hawks, Berkley Reloaded, KCCA Panthers, Rezlife Saints, and Black Panthers Basketball Club from the Democratic Republic of Congo, bringing another international flavour to the tournament.
With the same competitive field returning, Kira8 Season 2 promises familiar rivalries, unfinished business and new opportunities for every team to make its mark.
And this year, the tournament is set to offer even more — more basketball, more entertainment, more awards and an even better experience as the teams battle for the second Kira8 championship.
Can UCU Canons defend their crown?
Will Namuwongo Blazers bounce back and make a deeper run?
Can Kira Black Jaguars finally conquer their home court and lift the trophy?
The answers will come when the action gets underway at Kira8 Season 2.
