KIRA – Just two games shy of closing out the first round, JT Jaguars shooting guard Kevin Moru’s season took an unexpected turn. A knee injury sustained in a motor accident sidelined the team’s top scorer at a time when the offense was finally beginning to find its rhythm. His absence has been glaring, and since then, the Black Jaguars have gone 0–3, including a recent loss to the Namuwongo Blazers last Friday.

Thankfully, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Team medic Dr. Hellen shared a notably optimistic outlook:

“The better part of it is that the kneecap wasn’t affected by the injury, so we had no bone damage. We only had to treat the wound like any other normal cut. Kevin’s clearance to play is now up to how he feels. If he feels ready, he will play.”

That clearance might come just in time for the highly anticipated showdown against the KCCA Panthers on Sunday—a team Kevin torched in the first round. A final evaluation is scheduled for Friday, but the signs so far are encouraging.

Speaking to Kevin about how he feels,

“The wounds have healed and the stitches were removed. The healing process is about 70% now—I can jog and move my leg, so I believe I’m getting better each day.” He says
“There’s still some pain when I fold the leg at certain angles. I tried a 50% run at practice yesterday, but it still felt a bit sore.”
Kevin is still not sure himself if he will play, he says it depends on how he will feel in days nearing the game.“ As for playing, I’d say there’s a slight possibility. It really depends on how I feel in the days leading up to the game. If the pain persists, I’ll inform the doctor—I won’t push it, just like she advised.

He expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders in his recovery process, “for the record, thanks to the team doctor and management for the treatment and care throughout this recovery process.”
The big question is whether Kevin can quickly rediscover his shooting rhythm or if his return will resemble the early-season struggles he worked hard to overcome. Regardless, his presence alone could be the spark plug a struggling Jaguars team desperately needs.
