This cannot happen again
The JT Jaguars cannot afford to lose four consecutive games due to a string of mathematically outlandish shooting performances again. They cannot stand by and watch other teams secure prime playoff spots while they struggle. They cannot look confused as other teams bring their A-game while they seem to settle for a chill C+.
And this is not going to happen again, but we all got a glimpse of what it could look like if it did on Wednesday night. Even without their star Tonny Drilleba, Jimmy Enabu, and Okello James, City Oil proceeded to make every stunt (not forgetting a nutmeg pass from Fayed to Titus for a dunk), and a hit of 12 three-pointers, while the JT Jaguars managed ONLY 2 out of 18 attempts. Speaking to assistant coach Cuthbert, “We brought in all we had, but defense went to a personal level.”

It’s not like the JT Jaguars got blown out completely, they had chances to snag that game from the inevitably encroaching jaws of defeat.
The team started strong, leading by 4 points at the end of the first quarter with a score of 16-12. George Agasi scored 8-straight points, and the team only committed 6 turnovers, indicating a positive start. The defense was solid, and the Oilers appeared shaken.
However, the second quarter saw a dramatic shift. Both teams struggled to convert buckets, but the Jaguars capitalized on free throws, particularly from Benjamin Shango, who was fouled by Titus Lual at the 5:56 mark. This extended their lead by 4 points until Titus responded with a three-pointer. The same Titus Lual continued to dominate, adding 6 more points alone to finish the period. The period ended with Ian Lubwama’s dagger shot that threw the jaguars to a 4 point deficit 30-26.

In the third quarter, George Agasi’s jump shot was answered by Titus’s layup. Ivan Muhwezi then sank two consecutive three-pointers that went unanswered, and it became clear the Jaguars were in trouble. The Oilers’ 22-point third quarter contrasted sharply with the Jaguars’ 13 points, and although Agasi continued his stellar play in the fourth quarter, scoring 90% of the team’s points, it wasn’t enough. Every time the Jaguars attempted to make a play, the Oilers swooped in and nailed a three-pointer, making it a brutal spectator experience.
The Jaguars were outworked, outplayed and most of all outshot. They couldn’t close the gap and ultimately fell to the Oilers. Asst. Coach Cuthbert had a say to this “A lay-man would blame experience but look, let’s take these losses as lessons and a driving force into the play offs”
The JT Jaguars now have one more night in round 2 with the JKL dolphins before they kiss goodbye to the regular season, how will they end? Stay with us!!
